Overview:

The YMCA of Pueblo is looking for Summer Staff for our resident camp at YMCA Camp Jackson in Rye, Colorado. Camp Jackson Staff live an active outdoor lifestyle. Working at Summer Camp requires energy, enthusiasm, compassion, and a passion for making the world a better place. Our team of dedicated professionals work closely together in the beautiful San Isabel National Forest to create meaningful outdoor experiences for youth and families.

 

Camp Jackson is looking for an Administrative Assistant and Photographer who will enthusiastically represent the YMCA by displaying a positive attitude, maintaining a high level of energy and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job. Camp staff must embody the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. This position is responsible for assisting the Camp Director with office needs such as, but not limited to: creating cabin rosters, managing the camp store by taking inventory and organizing merchandise, as well as being available to take calls and respond to emails during the day. This position is also responsible for taking pictures and uploading them to Camp’s social media and sharing with families in a timely manner. This is a seasonal position.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Director to develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate cabin life and values-based programming
  • Taking approx. 100 quality photos daily and uploading them into an online system
  • Manage a positive store experience for all guests
  • Responsible for camper awards/beads & values awards nominations
  • Responsible for delivery of camp mail to campers and staff
  • Prepare for, assist in leading, and actively participate in staff training and staff meetings
  • Assume responsibility for the heath/welfare of campers and staff entrusted to their charge
  • Act as a positive role model for campers and other staff, demonstrating the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in the performance of job duties
  • Observe camper and staff behavior and assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques
  • Will be required to work some weekends as assigned
  • These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned, and other duties may be assigned as required
Qualifications:
  • At least 21 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Able to take quality photos and upload them into an online system
  • Great customer service
  • Social media management experience, preferred
  • Must possess a cooperative spirit and be committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to campers, staff, and program participants
  • Must demonstrate leadership qualities-allowing for the development of personal and professional interpersonal relationships with staff, campers, parents, and others
  • Must be committed to the mission of YMCA Camp Jackson and be an advocate and role model for staff and campers alike
  • Experience and/or previous training in youth camping
