Job Description

Company Overview:
We are a dynamic, creative company based in New Orleans that designs and produces gift shop products for local and national markets. Our products are featured in leading museums, French Quarter gift shops, and retail stores nationwide. Additionally, we operate a customer-facing business specializing in engraving plaques, awards, and custom gifts. We take pride in our fast-paced, fun, and solution-oriented work environment, where every day presents unique challenges and opportunities for creativity.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a talented and adaptable Artist-Illustrator & Production Associate to join our team. This role blends creative design with hands-on production work, supporting both our gift product lines and our commercial engraving business. The ideal candidate will be proficient in digital illustration, possess strong organizational skills, and be comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-moving environment.

This is a full-time, in-person position based at our New Orleans area studio. Standard work hours are Monday–Thursday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM , with an option for a 7-hour workday instead of the standard 8-hour shift.

Additionally, optional weekend opportunities are available for employees interested in participating in art markets and live on-site engraving or branding activations, particularly during peak holiday seasons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create original, high-quality artwork for a variety of product lines, including jewelry, home décor, and kitchen gifts.
  • Develop inspiration boards, style guides, and design concepts.
  • Adapt artwork to different mediums while maintaining brand consistency and meeting project requirements.
  • Prepare design files for printing, engraving, and other production processes.
  • Assist with engraving and customization of plaques, awards, and other retail-facing products.
  • Manage multiple design and production tasks, ensuring projects are completed accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide and receive constructive artistic feedback.
  • Troubleshoot technical and production challenges with software and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain an organized workspace and contribute to a positive team environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong background in graphic design, digital illustration, or a related creative field.
  • Advanced Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is required. Experience with CorelDRAW, Canva, or LightBurn is a plus.
  • Experience working in a print shop or production environment is beneficial but not required.
  • Ability to work in multiple artistic styles and adapt to brand guidelines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to pivot quickly between tasks.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
  • A proactive approach to learning new technologies and design techniques.
  • Willingness to assist with occasional weekend and evening events.

Why Join Us?

  • A creative and supportive work environment where problem-solving and innovation are encouraged.
  • A diverse range of projects, ensuring no two days are the same.
  • Opportunities to develop new skills and explore different areas of design and production.
  • Competitive compensation: $22–$25 per hour , depending on experience.
  • A team that values collaboration, craftsmanship, and creativity.

Application Process:
To apply, please submit your resume, a brief cover letter, and a link to your portfolio to careers@petespapercrafts.com
