This position is with The Virginia Catering Company on The University of Virginia grounds. The Catering Driver is responsible for safely transporting prepared food orders from the catering kitchen to various client locations, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining the quality and presentation of the food, often requiring excellent customer service skills to interact with clients upon delivery and may include setting up catering setups at the event site if needed. 

Job Responsibilities

​​​​​​ Delivery execution:

• Pick up prepared catering orders from the kitchen according to delivery schedules. 
• Navigate routes efficiently to deliver orders on time. 
• Carefully load and unload food items to maintain proper temperature and presentation. 
• Verify order accuracy before delivery and address any discrepancies with the kitchen. 

Customer interaction:

• Interact professionally with clients at delivery locations. 
• Provide information about the menu and answer any questions regarding the catering order. 
• Set up catering displays or buffets as required. 
• Collect payment if necessary. 

Vehicle maintenance:

• Ensure the delivery vehicle is clean and in good working condition. 
• Regularly check vehicle temperature controls to maintain food safety. 
• Report any vehicle issues to management. 

Logistics and paperwork:

• Follow assigned delivery routes and schedules. 
• Maintain accurate delivery logs and documentation. 
• Update delivery status in the company system.

Qualifications

• Must be age 21 years or older
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Experience in food service or delivery preferred
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to lift heavy boxes and equipment
• Strong customer service skills
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
• Basic navigation skills and ability to use GPS
