This program is responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of new childcare providers and centers into the USDA’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The CACFP provides reimbursement for eligible meals served to children in day care homes and centers. The Field Monitor ensures and encourages compliance for the childcare provider’s eligibility of reimbursement. This position will serve providers located in Harford, Baltimore County, and Baltimore City.

SUMMARY :
The Child Care Field Monitor conducts monitoring visits for the purpose of program compliance, technical training, and assistance in program requirements, and nutrition education training. They proactively work with care providers and centers to ensure ease of use with claims processing software, program updates, and overall understanding of general policies. The Child Care Field Monitor also plays a role in new childcare provider and center recruitment to highlight the benefits of the CACFP program to childcare centers and homes not already enrolled in the CACFP program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Recruit prospective care providers and centers for the CACFP.
  2. Proactively provide customer service focused assistance to providers when managing caseload.
  3. Conduct on-site monitoring visits to observe and assess environments and provider/center practices and provide technical assistance which includes mentoring, role modeling, and ongoing consultation as needed to ensure program standards are met.
  4. Maintain close communication with providers to inform on program policy updates.
  5. Maintain program and provider documentation as established by federal program guidelines.
  6. Manage administrative responsibilities such as data collection, demographic data, eligibility changes, etc.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Required :  BS degree in Early Childhood, Social Work, Nutrition/Dietetics, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge of child nutrition; excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to plan and manage with little supervision.  Proficiency in MS Office Suite, ability to use web-based computer programs and various electronic devices.

Preferred: Experience training adults. Knowledge of state childcare licensing standards, and childcare observation and assessment practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Demonstrates dependability/reliability, flexibility, and a willingness to meet program goals and objectives.
  2. Demonstrates ability to relate well to individuals of diverse racial, ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds and of varying abilities.
  3. This position may require extensive local, sometimes regional, travel.
  4. Home residence serves as primary office; reliable internet connection required.
  5. Must provide own transportation (mileage reimbursed).
  6. Documentation of valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance required.
  7. Criminal History Search, Fingerprint, and Child Protective Services Search required.
  8. Some evening hours are required.

The annual salary for this position is $40,000. This full-time position is 35 hours per week.
