Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Document Control Specialist for the Midwest region within our Heavy Industrial division. As a key member of our Team, it will be your responsibility to collect, retain, retrieve, distribute and transmit project documents including reference documents, engineering drawings, quality records and other project records. This is a remote position with preference to those who live local to Hammond IN, Detroit MI, Toledo OH, or St. Louis Mo.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Perform any tasks necessary to assist in accomplishing project goals, such as, filing, obtaining drawing prints or document copies, assembling reports or specifications, distributing documents both within and outside Orbital’s organization.
  • Reviews and verifies project documents for completeness, accuracy, format and compliance with contract requirements. Submits project documentation to Orbital management team for internal approval and transmits approved documents to customer. Distributes documentation to the project team and customers for review and comments.
  • This position requires discretion and independent judgment regarding support services for company and client management.
  • External-facing position with frequent and direct interaction with client and third party project management and document control departments.
  • May on rare occasion require travel to customer sites to deliver or retrieve documents in accordance with client requirements.
  • Administrative tasks as appropriate on projects, including creation of meeting minutes, creation and maintenance of action item lists, maintenance of drawing logs, organization of project files in accordance with Orbital quality processes, and other similar day-to-day responsibilities as required by our Project Managers.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check in order to obtain client security clearance
  • Experience handling and understanding basic drawing standards, electronic file types and components of AutoCAD and other commonly used CAD programs
  • Advanced computer skills for Microsoft Office suite
  • Adept at working with PDF documents and PDF creation and editing programs like Adobe and Bluebeam/Revu
  • Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills, responsiveness, and high attention to detail and client-specific requirements
  • Several years of document control experience, preferably in the AEC (Architecture/Engineering/Construction) industry
  • Ability to work independently and contribute administrative support to teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with document control systems specifically Bentley products (Unifier and ProjectWise), Meridian Documentum, Citadon, Aconex, Procore, and/or Sharepoint
