Job Description
As an External Mortgage Loan Officer, you will play a key role in providing exceptional service to members through various communication channels such as phone, email, in-person meetings, and mail. This position is perfect for individuals who thrive in an outside sales and business development environment, as you will actively attend functions and networking events to promote and cross-sell products and services.
Your primary responsibility will be to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including real estate professionals, builders, and other valuable referral sources. These connections will help increase loan portfolios and revenue while identifying current and potential lending opportunities.
This role requires personalized attention to members and will also involve attracting new members to help grow the brand and further establish a strong community presence. Strong interpersonal skills and previous experience in residential lending are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with federal regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, and USA PATRIOT Act, including customer identification, due diligence, and reporting suspicious activities.
Work closely with loan applicants, either by phone or in-person, to gather necessary information for loan applications.
Analyze the financial status, credit, and available equity of applicants to determine the feasibility of loan approval.
Submit completed loan applications to Mortgage Loan Processors for verification.
Correspond with applicants and creditors to resolve any questions or issues regarding applications.
Order appraisals as necessary to ensure there is enough equity for loan approval.
Ensure Loan Estimates and required disclosures are sent to members according to RESPA guidelines.
Collaborate with team members to resolve any mortgage application problems and streamline the process.
Identify and explore new lending opportunities to assist borrowers and increase the overall lending portfolio.
Promote other services offered by the organization to borrowers, ensuring they are aware of the full range of available products.
Represent the organization at external events to raise awareness about home loan products and build relationships with real estate agents and community partners.
Uphold the culture of compliance by following all federal and state regulations and adhering to policies regarding large currency transactions, wire transfers, and member identification.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Must be licensed through NMLS in Florida (required).
At least 3 years of experience in mortgage origination and sales (preferred).
Associate degree or higher in Business, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
Required Skills and Abilities
Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential.
Comprehensive understanding of real estate lending products.
Demonstrated proficiency in verbal, written, and mathematical communications.
Accuracy and professionalism in all tasks.
Familiarity with Episys Quest (Symitar) is desired.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Strong collaboration skills to interact effectively with internal teams and external vendors.

Physical Requirements
Ability to perform general office activities, such as using a telephone, computer, printer, and other office equipment.
The employee must be able to remain stationary for extended periods, with occasional mobility within the office to access equipment and files.
May occasionally need to lift up to 25 pounds.
