Job Description

Field Safety Specialist

**The selected individual  must live within the State of Florida , as our expectation would be that the candidate will spend a minimum of 2 days per week traveling to job sites at or near one of our Florida McShea locations. The selected candidate may be able to work from home on the days they might not be traveling. 

**Travel will be required for this role (50-60% travel) and would  include doing jobsite monitoring/visits while working at night .

 

Job Duties:

  • Perform regular site visits throughout Texas, and anywhere else crews may be working.
  • Document Site Visits and submit information in a weekly summary. (including date, location, time of arrival/departure, foreman/crew, vehicles, and pictures/videos)
  • Assist with Samsara camera implementation and monitoring
  • Ensure the crews are following all required local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Onsite safety corrections and discipline when necessary.
  • Accident response and Investigation from inception to closure.
  • Conduct investigations of all incidents involving hazardous materials, equipment, or employee injuries. Communicate findings from incidents and drive appropriate corrective action.
  • Insurance Claim management, inception to closure.
  • Handle any After-Hours Safety calls during seasonal night work.
  • Conduct safety meetings as needed. (Monthly/Quarterly)
  • Periodically review pre/post trip vehicle inspections and drivers logs.
  • Execution of in-house drug testing for DOT & Non-DOT employees (New Hire/Random/Post Accident/Reasonable Suspicion)
  • DQ File Management
  • DL/Medical Card/MVR/FMCSA Clearinghouse management
  • Execute Project Specific JHA/JSA/SSSP/Silica plans when required
  • Manage any Project Specific Drug Testing/Badging/Training/PPE requirements with contractor
  • Training/Re-Training (New Hire/Forklift Cert/Flagger/1 st Aid/CPR)
  • Assistance and future management of SPCC plans for both locations and other environmental compliance items needed.

Qualifications/ Experience:

  1. 3+years’ experience in a safety leadership position, preferably in a Roads/Highways/Construction setting.
  2. Possess an OSHA 10, 30 or 40 strongly preferred.
  3. Ability to travel 50-60%.
  4. Valid and active Florida driver's license with no restrictions
  5. Possess or be willing to obtain a CDL license.
  6. Excellent PowerPoint, Excel skills.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Basic understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA.
  9. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.
  10. Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers.
  11. Previous experience with Samsara equipment a major plus.
  12. Experience working with DOT regulations and requirements.

Travel:

Travel is required 50-60% of the time throughout the State of Florida.
