Duties

  • As a Forensic Scientist Trainee, you will participate in a comprehensive, structured serology training program designed to develop knowledge, understanding and technical skill related to physiological fluid analysis, hair identification, concise and accurate report preparation, and courtroom testimony. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of a laboratory supervisor who assigns and reviews work in progress and upon completion. Work requires limited technical skills and is performed with increasing independence as experience is gained. You will be tasked to maintain complete and accurate documentation of all testing and results. Ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures outlined in the Bureau of Forensic Services Quality Assurance and Safety Manuals is essential.

Requirements

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, forensic science, or a closely related physical or natural science, which includes or is supplemented by 16 college credits in chemistry.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass criminal history and background investigations.
