ShackletonThomas is a long established (1987) and renowned furniture and pottery making company in Bridgewater, Vermont specializing in hand skill techniques. Bridgewater is an area with a rich tradition of craft and creativity. We are located in a beautiful post and beam workshop housed in an old mill filled with natural light. We believe in sharing information and learning from each other and the outside world as much as possible. Employees are included in the running of the business to impart the most important skills of learning how to run their own business.
We are seeking a Furniture Maker to make individual pieces within a team of six. At Shackleton Thomas, each piece is crafted by a single furniture maker from start to finish. Designs are based on originals created by Charles, and finished pieces are signed by the maker that builds it.
We will train the right person, although experience in high end furniture making or comparable skill set is preferred. We are looking for someone that likes being part of a team, and a sense of humor is appreciated. Computer and drafting skills are a plus.
Pay is dependent on experience and PTO is offered to FT employees. Additional benefits include full use of workshops in out-of-workshop hours and weekends. We have full upholstery and woodturning shops, as well as a large CNC machine.
