Job Description
We're looking for a dedicated and passionate Math Tutor to provide personalized academic support to students, both individually and in group settings. This role involves tutoring in Math, including assisting students in preparing for tests, through in-person and remote sessions. You'll also create engaging learning and study materials to support their success.

Location: P.S. 213 New Lots, 580 Hegeman Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11207
Hours: 16-25 hours per week (September - May)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Salary: $16.50 to $23.15 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
Build strong, supportive relationships with students and teachers to understand individual learning needs.
Proactively arrange and conduct one-on-one and group tutoring sessions based on student requirements.
Foster a positive learning environment during in-school sessions and recess breaks, using creative and engaging teaching methods that keep students excited about learning.
Collaborate with school staff to align tutoring sessions with classroom assignments and student goals.
Observe classroom dynamics to gain insight into teacher styles and student engagement.
Provide targeted support for Math Test preparation, both during school hours and remotely during recess or breaks.
Stay up-to-date on Math curriculum and Math Test topics, and assist students in mastering key concepts.
Conduct practice tests and assessments to track progress and set personalized goals for improvement.
Partner with the Program Director to help develop both long-term and short-term objectives for the tutoring program.
Collaborate with school counselors, teachers, and parents to create effective strategies for supporting students who may be struggling.
Design and distribute customized learning materials that cater to each student's unique academic goals.
Approach all tutoring through a youth development lens, ensuring each session supports the holistic growth of the student.
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years or older.
Experience in tutoring Math and supporting high school students.
Strong communication skills and ability to use a variety of teaching techniques to engage students.
Knowledge of the needs of students who require remedial Math support.
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with school staff, students, and families.
A commitment to working from a strength-based, trauma-informed perspective to support student growth.
Preferred Experience:
Teaching experience.
A Bachelor's degree or higher.
Bilingual skills (Spanish and English) are a plus.
