Job Title: Monitor Technician

Location: Edison, NJ 08818

Duration: 3 Months

Job Overview:

We are looking for a Monitor Technician to oversee the continuous observation and interpretation of cardiac rhythms for patients under telemetry monitoring. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to report abnormalities promptly to ensure patient safety. The technician will interact regularly with patients, healthcare personnel, and visitors and must be adaptable to a hospital setting, including floating to the ER as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Observe and monitor cardiac rhythms using the patient telemetry system, promptly reporting any abnormalities.
  • Perform patient admissions and discharges within the telemetry monitoring system.
  • Conduct rhythm strip recordings as per protocol, ensuring clarity and functionality of monitoring systems (e.g., battery checks, transmitter safety).
  • Handle regular contact with medical center personnel, patients, and visitors to ensure smooth communication and coordination.
  • Adjust monitoring approach to suit patient needs, taking into consideration factors like age, culture, language, and any sensory impairments.
  • Adhere to all standards outlined in the medical center's organizational competencies.
Qualifications:
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years in a health-related field, with 1 year in cardiology or a related field.
    • Acute care experience required.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Training:
    • Completion of a monitor technician course at any hospital facility.
    • Passing score on HUMC’s arrhythmia exam.
  • Skills: Proficient in computer usage and able to lift 5 lbs., push/pull 10 lbs., and stand for at least 6 hours.
Schedule:
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts from 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, with occasional opportunities to work 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
  • Additional Requirements: Every other weekend required, plus 3-6 holidays. Technician will be required to float to the ER as needed.
