Post Office Assistant (Part Time) Location Godfrey, IL : POSTING TEXT Posting Number 20110715 Job Title Post Office Assistant (Part Time) Classification Non-Exempt Staff FLSA Non-Exempt Rate of Pay $14.01 per hour Type of Position Part-Time If Part-Time, specify hours per week 10-29 hours If Part-Time, specify number of weeks 52 Organizational Unit Admin-Post Office Position Reports To (Title) Supervisor, Campus Logistics Scope of Position Assist the Post Office Coordinator with various daily activities to ensure the proper and timely processing and distribution of campus mail, freight, UPS, FedEx, vending operations, and campus signage. Key Measurable Expectations
  • Coordinate and assist with the sorting, delivering and processing of daily campus mail;
  • Assist in compilation of postage meters and routine reports;
  • Assist with receiving all incoming freight and distribution, including use of a forklift for large deliveries and unloading of trucks;
  • Assist with preparing outgoing freight and ensure proper routing;
  • Assist with maintaining office supplies and forms relevant to operation of the Post Office;
  • Create signage as requested through Campus Events or other departments. Maintain inventory of signage supplies to ensure continuity of signage creation;
  • In the absence of Postal Coordinator, assist in various daily activities to ensure the proper processing and distributing of campus mail and proper operation of the Campus Post Office;
  • Be available to accommodate a flexible schedule to ensure the proper operation of the Campus Post Office to meet the needs of the college;
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma;
  • Knowledge and/or familiarity with U.S. Postal regulations;
  • Valid driver's license;
  • Proficiency with computer hardware, Outlook, and Office Suite Software;
  • Ability to communicate both orally and written with fellow Team members, coworkers, faculty, students, staff, contractors, businesses, vendors, and the general public in a courteous and professional manner;
  • Willing & able to become forklift certified with on-the-job training;
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Post Office Coordinator, LC Maintenance Team Supervisors, Facilities Manager, and Campus Director of Operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mail room and/or shipping & receiving experience;
  • Forklift experience.
Physical Demands Lifting (minimum lbs. required) - 50lbs, Bending, Stooping, additional items (identify) - must have the ability to travel and work any shift necessary to meet the needs of the college.
