The Department of Economics at Brown University invites applications for a one-year pre-doctoral research associate position to begin in Summer 2025. The successful candidate will work closely with and be mentored by Professor Matthew Pecenco. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research utilizing quasi-experimental and experimental methods to estimate the causal impacts of public policies and economic forces on issues such as crime, housing, and general market functioning. Professor Pecenco?s work has been featured in leading academic journals and prominent outlets such as The Economist and the Economic Report of the President.

- Duration : One year with the possibility of renewal for one additional year contingent on performance, funding, and need.

This position is an excellent stepping stone for candidates considering graduate studies or research-focused careers in economics or related fields. Additionally, the successful candidate may enroll in one credit-bearing undergraduate or graduate course per year with tuition covered by the Department of Economics.

- Bachelor?s degree with a strong quantitative background
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Interest in pursuing a research-oriented career in economics
- Strong technical skills, including experience in scientific computing
- Knowledge of statistical programming languages such as R, Stata, or Python (experience with large datasets is preferred)
- Willingness to collaborate and contribute to a team?s research efforts
