Primary Responsibilities

As an Optum Insight Product Management Intern you will:

  • Develop and oversee the product strategy, roadmap, and key success metrics aligned with business goals and customer needs.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and sales, to implement product initiatives.
  • Perform market research, competitive analysis, and user interviews to uncover product opportunities and assess risks.
  • Utilize data analysis, A/B testing results, and user behavior insights to inform product decisions and enhance performance.
  • Convert business objectives into detailed product requirements, user stories, and technical specifications.
  • Prioritize feature development based on impact, feasibility, and alignment with company objectives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication to ensure team and leadership alignment.
  • Continuously refine product features and user experiences based on feedback and performance data.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate degree with concentration in product management, data analytics, data science, information systems, computer science, business analytics or related field
  • Minimum three years of previous professional work experience
  • Proficiency in designing and documenting user flows and workflows for application development.
  • Ability to leverage quantitative and qualitative data to prioritize and shape product roadmaps.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHD, MD, or Master’s Degree program with a concentration in Biomedical Engineering, AI Systems, Information Systems, Health Care Analytics/Informatics, Medical Management, Product Management, Software, UX & Design, Biomedical Data Science, or Clinical Informatics Management.
  • Proven success in launching software products in Agile environments.
  • Knowledge of software development processes and technologies.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and product management tools (e.g., JIRA, Trello).
  • Experience with data analytics tools
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles and practices.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
  • Clear and concise communication of complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Skilled in collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking skills.

The salary range for this role is $85,000 to $125,000 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
