 Job Summary  Job Posting Refresh  The Research Associate will be mainly in charge of carrying out Drosophila genetic experiments, including producing balanced fly stocks for long term storage, the development of new genetic strains for experiments, and experiments using a wide variety of strains carrying various genomic modifications. The Associate will also supervise undergraduate workers seeking credit hours. The Research Associate will also carry out molecular cloning experiments involving the techniques of PCR, gel electrophoresis, restriction enzyme digests and DNA isolation. 
 Responsibilities  The duties include, but are not limited to: 
 Molecular cloning -  Molecular cloning, including PCR, gel electrophoresis, restriction enzyme digests and DNA isolation. 
 Drosophila management  -  Development of new Drosophila genetic strains. Drosophila husbandry and maintenance. Balancing fly stocks for long term storage. 
 Experimental genomic - Experimental genomic modifications and phenotype analysis. 
 Supervision  - Supervise undergraduate researchers performing UAS/Gal4 experimental fly crosses. 
 Required Qualifications  Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research; 
 OR  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experience. 
 Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities  KNOWLEDGE  Must have a basic understanding of laboratory techniques. Have basic understanding of Microsoft Suite programs. 
 SKILLS  Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have a high level of organizational skills. 
 ABILITIES  Must be highly motivated. 
 Shift/Salary/Benefits  Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
 Pay Band: B8
 Salary Minimum: $45,400 annually 
 Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
