Location: Reston, VA
Job Title: Security Guard (Class II) 
Job Type: Full-Time

Duties:

• Provide regular and supervisory guard services to cover all designated posts at the USGS National Center.

• Patrol facility areas to ensure the safety and security of assets, staff, and visitors.

• Enforce access control measures, monitoring building entrances and restricted areas to prevent unauthorized entry.

• Respond to security incidents, emergencies, and unusual activities following established protocols.

• Operate surveillance, alarm, and communication systems, reporting any malfunctions or irregularities.

• Document all patrols, incidents, and daily activities in logs and shift reports.

• Provide security oversight during special events and public engagements.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of experience in security services, law enforcement, or facility protection.

• Must be 18 years or older and authorized to work in the United States.

• Ability to patrol various environments, including outdoor areas and multi-level facilities.

• Strong observational and communication skills.

• Physical fitness to perform duties such as patrolling, standing for extended periods, and responding swiftly to emergencies.

• Familiarity with operating surveillance and alarm systems.

• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
