Job Description

Adaptive Launch Solutions (ALS) is a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB), offering full comprehensive benefits.  ALS provides pico, nano, micro, mini, and small satellites full launch integration services on Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV), Medium Launch Vehicles (MLVs) and Small Launch Vehicles (SLVs). On February 8, 2019 the U.S. Air Force (USAF) Space and Missile Systems Centers (SMC) Launch Enterprise Directorate awarded the multi-year Launch Manifest Systems Integrator (LMSI) Contract.  As part of the LMSI team, ALS will deliver capabilities and integration approaches that establish U.S. government enterprise-wide capability for small satellite delivery to space.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Senior Systems Engineer Lead will initially support a USG Government small satellite launch integration program providing daily guidance and oversight of a team of engineers designing, engineering and integrating launch vehicle rideshare systems.  Specifically, the Senior Systems Engineer Lead (SEL) will:

  • Provide leadership and execution of systems engineering processes ensuring that the team accomplishes engineering and integration efforts using standard.  The SEL also mentor’s program junior systems engineers and reviews their work for quality, oversight vendor engagement planning, and vendor delivery schedule monitoring.
  • Provide guidance, recommendations, and leadership of the development and instantiation of standard integration processes that the program will utilize. The SEL will lead system and sub-system level CONOPS development and requirements flow down.
  • Participate on the program management team and provide insight and expertise in areas that include schedule, risk management, cost management, and technical management for each program element. The SEL will support recurring internal contractor team meetings and customer team meetings on a recurring basis per direction of the Contractor Program Manager (CPM).
  • Support technical interchange efforts with Satellite “owners” for the purposes of communicating standard integration engineering analysis requirements and for the regular coordination to ensure that Satellite owners are advancing integration efforts toward desired Initial Launch Capability objectives
  • Establish and maintain a resource listing of subject matter experts (“Bench”) that may be available to support various engineering efforts. This Bench of personnel shall include staff from all teammates engaged to support the program.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. or higher Aerospace Engineering Degree
  • Ten (10) or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • Must be able to obtain TS/SCI Clearance
  • Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience
  • Relocation: This position is offered ALS basic relocation package from within continental United States to the Torrance, California area
