Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Senior Policy Strategist/Architect to support a high-impact cybersecurity and technology program focused on securing global infrastructure and enabling innovative, effective, and secure business processes. This Federal Strategic Cyber program provides comprehensive support across technical, engineering, data analytics, cybersecurity, management, operational, logistical, and administrative domains. The mission is to advise and assist the Cyber & Technology Security (CTS) Directorate in protecting a global cyber infrastructure—including networks, systems, information, and mobile devices—while proactively identifying and responding to cyber risks and threats.

Role Overview:

In this position, you will lead the planning, design, and implementation of cybersecurity policies and procedures that align with enterprise risk tolerance and evolving technology landscapes. You’ll assess the impact of emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and operational trends to shape strategic policy direction and drive secure digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement cybersecurity policies and standards based on enterprise risk appetite.
  • Evaluate the impact of new technologies (software, hardware, firmware) on IT environments and recommend policy updates.
  • Create impact reports on national-level and organizational policy changes affecting cybersecurity operations.
  • Diagnose operational issues and propose design changes based on policy trends.
  • Participate in cross-functional policy working groups and collaborate with external stakeholders.
  • Automate policy-related tasks and support system development lifecycle activities (requirements, design, testing).
  • Align policies with frameworks such as NIST 800-53, RMF, and CSF 2.0 to reduce enterprise-wide risks.
  • Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports detailing team efforts, accomplishments, and gaps.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration and integration across technical divisions.
  • Collect and prioritize requirements from internal and external teams to guide future application development.
  • Produce quarterly reports on emerging technical trends and cybersecurity controls impacting global operations.
  • Support mission requirements for policy modernization and stakeholder alignment.

  • Enhancing cross-functional team collaboration and mission clarity.
  • Bridging gaps in performance work statements (PWS) and new directives.
  • Consulting on future application needs and growth strategies.
  • Aligning technical capabilities across contract organizations.
  • Supporting policy modernization aligned with federal mandates and cybersecurity frameworks.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; 7 years with Masters; 4 years with PhD. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Possess ONE of the following certifications or be able to obtain within 6 months of start date:
    • CASP+ CE, CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA-Security, CCNP Security, , CFR, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), Cloud+, CySA+, GCED, GCIA, GCIH, GICSP, SCYBER, VCA DCV, PPDA, Agile IC, or SNOW App Dev
  • Experience monitoring and responding to inquiries on cyber policies and standards.
  • Demonstrated technical and administrative support of cyber security policy.
  • Experience examining requests and making recommendations for the development/approval of waivers/exceptions to policies and standards.
  • Familiar with NIST 800-53 Security and Privacy Controls, NIST SP 800-37 Risk Management Framework, and NIST CSF 2.0.
  • Experience with Policy development, Incident Response, Blue Team, Red Team, or ISSO related work.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
    • Must have the ability to obtain a final Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
