SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager, the part-time
Shipping/Packaging Assistant executes a variety of tasks including package handling, customer communication, and order processing. The position assists with daily coordination and execution of in-house shipping and related logistics. The Shipping Assistant works closely with wine products, merchandise, wine club and tasting rooms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - This position handles packing and shipping of in-house domestic orders, including but not limited to wine club, web, tasting room, and wholesale sample orders.
- Accurately handles uploading of orders to ship via UPS or FedEx.
- Handles communication with club, tasting room, sales/wholesale departments & occasional customer support, including but not limited to interactions via email and phone for assistance regarding existing orders, general inquiries and returns.
- Assists with accurate inventory of retail, raw materials and shipping supplies
- Orders and inventories all shipping supplies.
- Organizes transfers: receiving, pulling and staging, delivering to and receiving from wineries (Tasting rooms & warehouse).
- Documents customer returns.
- Responsible for special projects as directed by Warehouse Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience, Knowledge, and Skills - Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean DMV report.
- 1-2 years of experience in shipping a plus.
- Proficient with UPS and FedEx systems a plus.
- Possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Excellent team player.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office/Excel.
- Willingness to help in a multitude of tasks and learn new skills and programs.
- Ability to respond to frequently changing needs.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Experience operating a forklift a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: - Work is performed in a warehouse where temperatures can fluctuate from cool to warm frequently and noise level can be moderate to high.
- Infrequent sitting to operate a desktop computer using keyboard and mouse, employing repetitive arm and wrist motions.
- Frequent standing and continuous walking on level surfaces. Occasional walking on uneven surfaces.
- Frequent bending and twisting.
- Using a step ladder to frequently reach above and below shoulders to stock shelves.
- Ability to continuously lift up to 10 pounds. Frequent lifting 11-50 pounds. Infrequent lifting over 50 pounds.
- Ability to frequently carry up to 50 pounds and infrequently carry over 50 pounds.
- Ability to carry retail items in bins that may be heavy and bulky.
- Ability to occasionally push/ pull up to 10 pounds, frequently push/pull 11-20 pounds, and occasionally push/pull 21-50 pounds. Infrequent pushing/pulling of over 50 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull pallets via pallet jack with 14-56 wine cases.
Hourly rate: $18.00
