Job Description

About Luminary

Luminary powers how advisors connect their client’s financial assets with generational gifting and philanthropic giving goals.

Some $80 trillion will pass between generations in the decades ahead – and high net-worth asset owners say they want their advisors to lead them through this process. However, more than 70% of these clients feel there is a large gap between the services they expect and what they are receiving.

At the heart of this disconnect is the lack of integrated systems – making delivery of trust & estate advice costly and cumbersome. Luminary’s collaboration platform brings together wealth, legal, and tax advisors to scale complex workflows and power innovative features like AI document intake, estate visualizations, strategy modeling and comparison, and client presentation deliverables.

The time has come to bring technology-led efficiency and access to legacy planning. Luminary’s founding team has deep experience in this space, and in building successful software businesses. Our team has experience driving innovation at industry leading companies including AllianceBernstein, Blend, Origin, ChanZuckerberg, Peloton, Compass, and Goldman Sachs.

We are backed by leading venture capital investors 8VC and Fin Capital, prominent wealth management firms, and several family offices. And we’re supported by a group of esteemed advisors who are active in the trust & estate industry.

What you’ll do

  • Drive product development: As a member of a small, high-leverage engineering team, you'll have meaningful ownership over the product development process, significantly impacting our product and business growth.

  • Craft a world-class developer experience: Improve and drive forward our tech stack, data model, and tooling. Your decisions will have a real impact on the engineering culture at Luminary.

  • Collaborate with leadership: Work closely with our CEO, Head of Product, and Head of Engineering to elevate our product from early traction to industry leadership.

  • Innovate quickly: Iterate rapidly with the Luminary team to build a generational business. We ship to production 10+ times per day.

Who you are

  • Experienced engineer: You have 4+ years of software engineering experience at companies with strong engineering practices. (More is also great; we are open to a variety of experience levels in qualified candidates.)

  • Product-focused: You are a fullstack engineer with a product mindset, motivated to build an industry-leading product and support

  • Autonomous & responsible: You have a strong work ethic and thrive in environments of autonomy and ownership, understanding the broader impact of your decisions on the product architecture. You identify and advocate for systemic improvements as you see them.

  • Technically skilled: While we're not dogmatic about specific technologies, familiarity with the tools we use is very useful. If you’re not familiar with some of these, you are curious and excited to learn them!

  • Excellent communicator: You excel in communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Especially in an environment with a number of remote co-workers, you proactively push information to the rest of the team.
