SEG’s Senior Project Manager must demonstrate the ability to manage the cradle-to-grave aspects of the entire life-cycle of a commercial and/or institutional design/build project. The position includes a very strong understanding of process management and the ability and agility to perform work that is contracted through a variety of delivery methods that include: indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ), Lump-Sum Contracting and Design/Build contracts. The Senior Project Manager accomplishes work by means of subcontractors; however, the Senior Project Manager must have the ability to manage self-performed construction activities where those resources may benefit the project. The Senior Project Manager may be required to lead, mentor and assist in the development of less experienced staff.
Scope of Senior Project Manager Position Manages all aspects of project management for a large project and/or multiple small projects with an approximate volume of $8-17 million.
Essential Functions of Senior Project Manager Position Very strong working knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical or electrical discipline and a good understanding of the other disciplines. Strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively use a variety of estimating, scheduling and reporting software tools. The ability to effectively communicate with management, subcontractors, customers and peer groups. Ability to travel to different jobsites within a designated geographical area.
Senior Project Manager Responsibilities
The role involves managing the entire construction workflow, starting from project origination through to closeout. Key responsibilities include negotiating and contracting, managing permits and regulatory requirements, and coordinating with owners and design professionals to ensure client satisfaction. The position also requires developing and overseeing project schedules, cost estimates, and ensuring projects are completed within budget, on time, and meet quality standards. Additionally, the role involves identifying and solving potential issues, maintaining project control through documentation, and ensuring compliance with legal and contract requirements. The position also requires supporting the Estimating Department and mentoring team members.
Minimum Qualifications - B.S. degree in Engineering or Construction Management with 10-15 years of experience with a commercial and/or industrial general contractor or 20+ years of directly related experience with no degree.
- Demonstrated experience managing self-performed work activities and subcontracted work.
- A very strong working knowledge of construction means and methods associated with the renovation of commercial and institutional buildings and site work related thereto.
- High level of proficiency with spreadsheets, email and other software used in the construction industry.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in government contracting is preferred.
- Current safety credentials to include OSHA 30, First Aid, CPR, AED.
- Current CQM certification issued by USACE / NAVFAC.
- Professional credentials – either Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) desired.
