Position Summary The Supply Chain Manager coordinates, organizes, and oversees all activities involved in the identification, acquisition, production, and distribution of the company’s goods.
Essential Functions - Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
- Establishes performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain.
- Develops and maintains detailed inventories of materials and supplies located in the company, at sites, and in the factory.
- Maintains required quantity of supplies and materials to optimize production.
- Responsible for allocating and managing associates according to changing needs.
- Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company.
- Develops policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to processes.
- Identifies optimal shipment and transportation routes with attention to consolidation of warehousing and distribution.
- Assesses the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; makes recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials.
- Negotiates prices for raw material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies.
- Participates as an advisory member of the laboratory team, providing information and guidance on availability and cost of supplies and materials.
- Maintains a highly visible presence on the operations floor.
- Coordinate the movement of material handling equipment and personnel to maximize efficiencies and achieve goals/standards.
- Ensure customer orders are processed within acceptable order cycle time, Must Arrive by Dates and accuracy requirements.
- Effectively communicate information to all levels of the operation.
- Acts as part of the team coordinating engineering changes, product line extension, or new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow transitions.
- Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Operates with the highest level of customer service
Supervisory Responsibilities: - Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the designated department.
- Attracts, develops, and retains a high performing team to meet the current and evolving needs of the business through effective selection, training and development, coaching and mentoring and performance management.
- Ensures safe workplace by operating under necessary guidelines
- Ensures all quality policies are followed daily
- Ensures financial accuracy of inventory and overhead
Education and Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required
- 5-7 years’ Supply Chain experience required
- 3 years’ Material Planning experience highly preferred
- Three years of experience as a supervisor, manager, or similar relevant position required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of company products and logistics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with NetSuite, preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, there may be certain physical demands required for the position.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and smell. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
