The Teaching Assistant reports to the Middle School Departmental Principal. The Teaching Assistant supports the school’s vision, mission, policies, goals, and expected school-wide learning results. Supports department school classroom teachers by preparing instructional materials, providing instructional assistance in all subjects, correcting assignments, keeping records, supervising students, attending to students’ needs, and helping with special events in a variety of settings. This position requires the use of ASL and English on a continuing basis. The incumbent communicates with students, staff, and parents in ASL and English regarding school-related information and interprets or facilitates communication as necessary.
Qualifications1) Possession of strong program and people skills; 2) Respect for cultural diversity; 3) Fluency in ASL; 4) Good command of written English; and 5) Possession of strong computer skills.
