Job Overview :

We are looking for a skilled Utilities General Superintendent to oversee and manage daily field operations for utility construction projects. The ideal candidate will ensure the successful execution of projects, from installation to maintenance, while prioritizing safety, quality, and efficiency. This leadership role requires extensive experience in utilities construction, a strong understanding of field operations, and the ability to manage multiple teams effectively.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Field Operations Management : Oversee the day-to-day operations of utility construction projects, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Team Leadership : Supervise field crews, subcontractors, and supervisors, ensuring proper training, safety compliance, and effective team coordination.
  • Project Coordination : Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals and timelines are met.
  • Safety & Compliance : Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements on all job sites. Ensure proper PPE usage and safe work practices are followed at all times.
  • Quality Control : Monitor construction work to ensure compliance with industry standards, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Problem-Solving : Address any on-site issues, including equipment malfunctions, delays, or safety concerns, and implement solutions quickly and effectively.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication : Serve as a key point of contact for clients, suppliers, and contractors, providing regular updates on project progress and resolving issues as needed.
  • Reporting : Maintain accurate daily reports, including progress updates, safety logs, and equipment usage, for internal and client purposes.

Qualifications :

  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is a plus.
  • Experience : 10+ years of experience in utility construction, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role managing large field teams and complex projects.
  • Skills :
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent knowledge of utility construction methods, safety regulations, and quality control practices.
    • Ability to read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and technical drawings.
    • Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Certifications : OSHA certification required, First Aid/CPR preferred.
  • Physical Requirements : Ability to work in field environments and travel to project sites as necessary.
