We want to supplement a historically subjective system of measuring an athlete’s skill and potential with a robust statistical data center that evaluates objective gameplay metrics. 

COPA STC premiere product is the world’s first entirely objective assessment of a player – The COPA Score. The COPA Score is a composite score resulting from our advanced technologies assessing key technical, physical and cognitive abilities under standardized conditions. We have assessed thousands of athletes, from recreational to elite professionals, utilizing our COPA Score to establish critical skill benchmarks which are used to effectively identify an athlete's development needs and objectively compare players.

About The Position:

The Talent Identification - Assessment Coach role at COPA is a part time role. We are seeking individuals with a passion for sports, science and being a part of something revolutionary that is going to change the game. The role requires 3-4 days of availability per week, offers competitive compensation, on-site training, free facility access, internal career pathways throughout our many other divisions – player development & coaching, data science, business development, marketing and social media, plus others. 

The role also involves coaching COPA’s youth training sessions. Working at COPA STC is unlike any coaching position in the world. Using innovative technologies and cutting-edge sports science, we create a unique training environment that requires coaches to think outside the box and constantly be searching for best practices to drive player development. Coaches will work within the COPA methodology and curriculum to deliver impactful private and small-group training sessions to a wide range of athletes, from world class players to young players being introduced to the game for the first time.

COPA Cube – A 360-degree training environment designed to train an athlete’s awareness, speed of play, first touch and ball control, and passing accuracy. This is the only device of it's kind in North America.

SpeedLab – leveraging innovative technology, which assess an athlete’s acceleration, speed, agility, reaction time, and force producing capabilities.

Vienna Test System – A computer-based cognitive assessment tool that tests executive functions, reaction time, and stress tolerance.

SonicBone Skeletal Age Testing -  To truly identify and develop talent we must acknowledge that every player grows at different rates. This device objectives assesses where a player is at in their physical growth.

Role Details:

  • 15-20 hours per week 
  • Primary responsibilities will be to deliver the COPA Score assessment protocol to aspiring athletes in a controlled and standardized testing environment and deliver high quality soccer training sessions for COPA's youth membership athletes. 
  • Additional weekly responsibilities may include but not limited to: 
  • Team Testing Events 
  • On site and Off site activation for the COPA Score 
  • Data management 

Schedule & Availability Details:

At least two days of weekday availability 

  • 3pm - 8pm 

and 

At least one day of weekend availability 

  • 8:30am - 4:30pm 

Key Responsibilities & Objectives:

  • Deliver the COPA Score protocol daily in line with expected data collection standards while creating a truly unique experience for players
  • Deliver soccer training sessions in line with COPA's in house curriculum, focusing on creating the world's best development environment
  • Engage with aspiring athletes, youth to pro, on a daily basis. 
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging technology fueled environment for athletes to thrive. 
  • Participate in staff development and outreach events.

Requirements:

  • Experience coaching youth soccer (minimum 1 years coaching players 8-18 years old). 
  • Physical effort and exertion, which may include all exercise and sports-related movements, maintenance of equipment, lifting weights up to 45 pounds, and prolonged walking and standing. 
  • A degree, or in pursuit of a degree, in the field of coaching, kinesiology or sports science preferred. 
  • Ability to learn and become comfortable with our technology, operating software, and hardware which is integral to our facility and curriculum. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proven time management and organizational skills. 
  • Solution orientated in difficult situations –particularly related to customer issues.
