Job Description

The Mechanical Drafter will play a significant role in collaborating with the Engineering and Quality teams to capture design outputs for a novel medical device. This position focuses on the development and management of documentation including CAD models, fabrication drawings, procedures, BOMs, and specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting and mechanical design, particularly in the medical device sector.

Skills

  • 5+ years of experience drafting machined, casted, sheet metal, and/or plastic molded components.
  • Expertise in utilizing SolidWorks for modeling complex 3D systems and drafting components.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T as per ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience in generating and managing BOM structures, ECRs, and documentation through a QMS.
  • Experience with mechanical design for medical devices (nice to have).
  • Experience with cable drawings (nice to have).
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to capture design outputs for a novel medical device.
  • Develop and manage documentation including CAD models, fabrication drawings, procedures, BOMs, and specifications.
  • Build and manage an accurate 3D CAD model of a novel and complex medical device.
  • Generate and manage fabrication drawings for all elements of the medical device.
  • Generate and manage specification documents.
  • Generate and manage BOMs.
  • Manage all documents accurately in a QMS.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical drafting.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with GD&T and document management systems.

Education Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field is preferred but not specified.

Education Requirements Credential Category

  • Relevant degree in engineering or design preferred (specific degree not required).

Experience Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical drafting and design for manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in the medical device industry is preferred.
