Barbee Testers specializes in building custom test stands tailored to meet the specific needs of customers. From small portable valve testers to large stands exceeding 85,000 lbs, the company offers endless customization options to design stands according to unique application requirements.
Role Description
This is a part-time to full-time potential paid internship, on-site role for a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Barbee Testers in Reno, NV. The intern will be involved in day-to-day tasks related to mechanical engineering, computer-aided design (CAD), project management, and utilizing analytical skills for testing and designing custom test stands. Based on customer requirements and feedback, we want this role to use out-of-box thinking to manage designing and developing or even re-designing products for Barbee product lines.
Job Tasks
Design and develop prototypes.
Analyze and test prototypes with a series of revisions.
Prepare machining drawings with appropriate dimensions for off-site manufacturing.
Collaborate with other teams to manage the product development through each stage.
Hands-on experience with mechanical systems
Required Skills
Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Experience with design software (e.g., SolidWorks) is a plus
Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
Export models/drawings for 3D printing and off-site machining
Creative problem solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Knowledge of testing methodologies and instrumentation
Ability to formulate and manage production timelines
Strong Communication and Project Management skills
Innovate and improve upon existing product designs
Knowledge of wiring, soldering, general electro-mechanical and wiring understanding
Experience using hand tools, power tools and heavy machines (lathe, mill, etc) a plus
