Job Description

This position is remote in Colombia. Recruiter & HR Generalist (Remote, Spanish & English speaking) • Do you have a demonstrated record of excellence in recruiting? • Do you also enjoy the broader world of HR - building systems, supporting people, and ensuring smooth operations across human resources functions? • Keen to find a full-time job where your talents and efforts will be rewarded? • Are you passionate about using your people skills for good, helping others see the value of joining an organization that can change lives? • Looking for a remote job that you can do from home, from anywhere in the world? • Speak fluent Spanish and English? • Want to be part of an incredible team that’s changing lives by helping immigrants secure their future in the United States through asylum? If that's you, read on. Political Asylum Lawyers seeks a Recruiter & HR Generalist who is equally excited about finding top talent and supporting the team once they join. This is a role for someone who loves recruiting but also sees the importance of HR as the backbone of a successful, people-centered organization. Is this position the right fit for you?  Only apply if, after due consideration, you think you can add real value to our outstanding team and can fully commit to supporting our mission of helping immigrants secure their future in the United States through asylum. You must have extensive experience in recruiting, particularly placing professionals into international or U.S.-based roles.  We’re looking for someone who brings strategic insight into talent acquisition—and who thrives in building and maintaining people, systems, and processes. You will manage all stages of the recruitment process—from job postings and sourcing to screening and coordinating interviews. You’ll also be responsible for onboarding new hires and ensuring a seamless experience as they join the team. Beyond hiring, you’ll be deeply involved in payroll coordination, benefits tracking, HR recordkeeping, and compliance. • You’ll work closely with leadership on projects involving employee engagement, performance evaluations, policy development, and professional development tracking. • You’ll work from home and can be located anywhere in the world. You’ll need a quiet space, fast internet, and the discipline to stay on task without close supervision. • You must be flexible and adapt to change quickly. As our hiring and HR systems evolve, so will the tools and approaches you use. • You’ve got to be open to constructive criticism; your work will be assessed against rigorous standards, and you’ll need to quickly and effectively incorporate feedback. You must constantly seek to improve, sharpen your professional skills, and produce better and better results. • Minimal travel may be required. You may be asked to travel infrequently for in-person training. • You must speak both English and Spanish fluently and be comfortable using both professionally—you’ll use both languages every day on the job. • You’ve got to be detail-oriented and able to work under pressure while keeping both team and company needs in mind, meeting deadlines, and producing top-notch work. We’re looking for growth-oriented people. We believe mindset is everything in this role, so we’re looking for someone who is self-confident and ambitious, as well as intellectually curious and into personal and professional development. To be clear, the work is at times intense: we’re doing important—sometimes life-changing—work for clients, and we’re serious about promoting a culture of excellence. These expectations extend to how we recruit, onboard, and support our team. If you can meet our high standards, and you’re passionate about supporting people who truly need the best help possible as they face a crisis, then you’ll find working at Political Asylum Lawyers to be immensely rewarding. Our work changes lives. Our team takes immense pride in the role we play, through our advocacy and client engagement, in helping immigrants get safety, stability, and freedom. Working here also means a chance to cultivate skills that will serve you for the rest of your career, as we prioritize training and professional development. What you will get Salary commensurate with experience, but above market norms. In addition to a competitive salary, you will enjoy a work-life balance. While the work will be fast-paced and excellence is expected, you won’t be asked to work more than 40 hours per week.  You will also receive all benefits and contributions that employers in your country are required to provide by law to full-time employees. The firm may pay for certain additional, non-obligatory benefits, depending on the country you live in.  Opportunities for professional development abound - we love providing time and resources for our employees to acquire and develop skills.  You will receive three weeks of vacation annually. Additionally, all employees, including those based outside the United States, are off work on all U.S. federal holidays (11). You’ll receive only U.S. holidays. If you’re outside the United States, you’ll receive any pay required by your country’s laws for work that you do on holidays in your country that are not also U.S. holidays.  How to apply To apply, please submit a resume and a cover letter, both of which must be in English. Your application won’t be considered without a cover letter. Your cover letter should explain why you’re uniquely qualified for this particular position and why you would be a great fit for our law firm. Generic, copy/paste cover letters will be discarded. Upload your cover letter and resume, in PDF format, through the website where you’re viewing this announcement. Please do not call or email us about this opening. Refine interview techniques to evaluate communication skills and alignment with the firm's strategic goals in a multilingual, multicultural environment. • Design and manage recruiting processes, including job posting, sourcing, screening, and interview coordination. • Build scalable talent acquisition systems and pipelines aligned with the firm’s long-term goals. • Maintain organized records and recruitment systems using platforms like Asana and WizeHire. • Serve as the point of contact for candidates and hiring teams throughout the recruitment and onboarding processes. • Set up new employees in all firm systems and platforms. • Keep onboarding materials and processes current and consistent. • Support staff evaluations and professional development tracking. • Ensure employees receive bonuses, holiday payments, and other additional payments through payroll platforms (e.g., Deel, Gusto). • Assist with payroll management and benefit coordination across Gusto, Deel, and similar platforms. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records. • Support compliance with internal HR policies and applicable employment laws. • Perform other tasks, as assigned. Qualifications: • A minimum of five years of direct experience in a recruitment/placement agency or the HR department of a U.S. or multinational firm. • Extensive, pre-existing knowledge of the Colombian professional landscape, including well-established connections with key institutions, universities, professional networks, and specialized publications. • Interest and ability in HR operations - someone who not only recruits but enjoys keeping processes running smoothly behind the scenes. • Fluency in English and Spanish. • Demonstrated history of excellence in recruiting. • Deep knowledge of the job market and recruiting landscape. • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. • Detail-oriented and able to perform at a high level with minimal supervision. • Ability to work well under pressure. • Able to keep track of taskings and meet deadlines. • Commitment to supporting the firm’s mission of helping immigrants secure their future in the United States through asylum.
