Our client is seeking a full-time Sales Engineer to support and advance their sales efforts by bridging the gap between engineering capabilities and client needs. This role will be responsible for working closely with prospective clients and internal teams to understand customer requirements, develop and present tailored technical solutions, and support the successful closing of sales opportunities. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, customer-focused communication skills, and a collaborative approach to ensure clients receive effective, customized solutions that meet their objectives.
Location - Houston preferred, otherwise the state of TX. Strong candidates outside of TX may be considered if near a major airport.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide pre-sales technical support - product demonstrations and technical presentations. Act as a project manager to help drive engineering packages working with the Engineering Services and Design teams and help ensure timely delivery to the customer.
• Engage with clients to understand their technical requirements and business challenges.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to develop customized solutions that address customer needs and align with our product capabilities.
• Help Sales prepare and deliver detailed proposals, including scope of work and project timelines.
• Support Sales by participating in strategy meetings and contributing to sales planning.
• Stay current with industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to provide informed recommendations and maintain a competitive edge.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
• Provide feedback to the product development team about client needs and product performance in the field.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree a plus.
• 5 years working in a utility or within a sales engineering or technical sales role, preferably within the utility industry.
• Strong understanding of electric transmission and/or distribution is preferred. Experience with sales, specifically with utilities, is highly desirable.
• Proven record of successful sales support and/or growing sales portfolios, including experience with proposal writing, negotiation, and closing deals.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
• Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate with cross-functional departments.
• Valid driver’s license and 50% travel.
