Job Title: Mechanical DesignerJob Description We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our R&D team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SolidWorks and experience in converting 2D drawings to 3D models. This role involves creating control mechanism drawings for both new and existing projects, supporting the engineering group, and collaborating closely with the R&D team. Responsibilities Utilize SolidWorks to create and modify 3D models from 2D drawings, particularly for steel components matching our products. Develop 3-phase sets and control mechanism drawings. Support the engineering group and R&D team by producing detailed drawings and models. Spend significant time working on a computer to generate drawings, with floor visits to understand the physical components. Understand and manage the integration of up to 2200 components in a single piece of switchgear, ensuring accurate representation in drawings. Assist in the next phase of projects by supporting new drawings and transferring 2D designs into 3D models for top-floor implementation. Manage routings and work centers, understanding their interactions and workflows. Work onsite five days a week, with some flexibility for remote work depending on project demands. Once confident in the work produced, a more flexible schedule may be considered. Essential Skills Proficiency in SolidWorks, with the ability to pull from the library and create detailed models. Experience in converting 2D drawings to 3D models. Strong understanding of control mechanisms and their applications in new and existing projects. Ability to manage and integrate complex assemblies with numerous components. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with the engineering group and R&D team. Flexibility to work onsite and adapt to project needs. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with SolidWorks animation is a plus, especially for projects involving a large number of components. Skill in Design, SolidWorks, Fusion, Drafting, detailing, 3D modeling, Mechanical design, AutoCAD, Drafting/design, Mechanical drafting, BOM, CAD. Experience with mechanical design, sheet metal, and engineering. Work Environment The role involves a significant amount of desk work, with additional time spent on the manufacturing floor to understand the physical components. The position requires working onsite five days a week, with potential flexibility for remote work depending on project demands. A more flexible schedule may be considered once confidence in the work produced is established. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
